Harry Buerer has directed the choir at Cedar Hills Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon, from 2001 to 2020. He also has a strong interest in biblical languages and theology. In the mid-90s he attended a messianic group in Portland, which changed his life by opening his eyes to the Jewish roots of his faith in Jesus. As he has continued to study scripture over the years, he has become more and more convinced that we tend to harbor serious misunderstandings about the New Testament if we ignore its Jewish cultural background. He has recently published a book titled “Following Christ – Rediscovering the Jewish Faith of Jesus” .
